Students of Maqsut Narikbayev University Asked the Best Questions of My Life – Professor of Penn State University Stephen Barnes

Maqsut Narikbayev University continues its successful cooperation with Penn State University. A guest lecture by Professor Stephen Barnes from the American university was recently held at MNU.

Stephen Barnes spoke to future lawyers and diplomats about the constitutional structure and legislation of the United States. The professor presented the key features of the American legal system and conducted a comparative analysis of the constitutional models of the United States and Kazakhstan, emphasizing the importance of legal traditions in the development of statehood. During the lecture, participants also exchanged views on the upcoming national referendum in Kazakhstan on the adoption of a new Constitution.

“I have visited MNU many times; however, this lecture is of special significance. I am sincerely impressed by the students’ excellent command of the English language. It felt less like a lecture and more like a press conference, as I heard questions that are usually asked by professional journalists. I have visited many countries and met with young people in the United States, India, and Colombia. However, it would not be an exaggeration to say that the questions from MNU students were the best questions of my life. This is an exceptionally high level,” Stephen Barnes emphasized.

It is worth noting that MNU, together with Penn State University, implements a dual-degree program. Penn State University is one of the largest research universities in the United States, with a 170-year history.
