PESOCHNICA, A GOOGLE-STYLE SLIDE, AND A COWORKING SPACE: MNU UNVEILS A VIBRANT NEW COMMUNITY HUB FOR STUDENTS

On January 27, Maqsut Narikbayev University unveiled a new student community space — Pesochnica, a modern multispace designed for both individual and team work.
The new location is perfect for hosting various events, guest lectures, student organization meetings, and creative activities. Its modular structure allows for quick adaptation to the needs of specific events, while its ergonomic setup makes it ideal for both brief meetings and extended discussions. Pesochnica features a multifunctional workspace, four Small-format rooms, two Medium-format rooms, and a Large-format room that accommodates up to 80 people. In addition, you can get into multispace by riding a slide like in Google offices.
The new space was officially opened by the Minister of Science and Higher Education of Kazakhstan, Sayasat Nurbek, and a member of MNU’s Board of Trustees, Christopher Campbell-Holt, Registrar and Chief Executive of the AIFC Court. The Minister familiarized himself with the activities of the Department of Student Affairs (DSA) and the unique features of the CSI (Creativity, Service, Intelligence) course taken by university students. Sayasat Nurbek also highlighted MNU as an outstanding example among universities investing in the improvement of infrastructure.
The name of the new community space was not chosen at random. As we know, a sandbox is a place for initial communication during childhood, and in science, it is associated with experimental zones where new ideas and developments are tested. It is worth noting that, in addition to Pesochnica, the university successfully operates several other community spaces.
‘Our new space is designed for student organizations, of which there are more than 40 at the university today. These organizations cover various areas and are quite popular among students. By participating in these organizations, students take the CSI course, which helps them develop their creative and intellectual abilities while fostering deep engagement in the social life of the university and society as a whole. I am confident that Pesochnica will become a new hotspot where our students will find additional inspiration to bring their ideas to life,’ said MNU Chairman of the Board, Talgat Narikbayev.
Additionally, a new online platform, Spaces MNU, will soon be launched to enhance the convenience of using the Pesochnica community space.
