Academic Diplomatic Club

Creating an international spirit and learning about the cultures of different countries has always been an important part of the life in MNU. In this regard, our university started to increasingly attract Ambassadors of foreign countries and diplomats to participate in guest lectures on current issues of modern international relations; students have become increasingly interested in the experience of economic development, political interaction, and the legal systems of different countries.

On May 5, 2014, the official opening of the Academic Diplomatic Club took place with the participation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Ambassadors of more than 25 countries and more than 40 diplomats of foreign countries and diplomatic missions accredited in the Republic of Kazakhstan.

During the functioning of the ADC, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iran Mohammad Javad Zarif, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary Peter Szijjártó, the former Minister of Foreign Affairs of India Yashwant Sinha, the UN Assistant Secretary-General for Political Affairs Miroslav Jencsa, UN Assistant Secretary-General for Communications and Public Information Kristina Gallach, acted as our honored guests and main speakers.

The club has become a free platform for discussing current issues of international relations in the fields of politics, economics, culture and education. Its mission is to create and strengthen favorable relationships between representatives of different cultures and peoples. Club meetings are held weekly and in various formats: round tables, conferences, open lectures, business forums, business conversations, cultural events.

In 2022, ADC launched a special ‘Applied Diplomacy’ course for students of the International Relations programme, which aims to provide students with a practical understanding of international relations. The course includes guest lectures by heads of diplomatic missions and international organisations. In the academic years of 2022-2024, MNU has invited representatives of the EU, OSCE, CICA, as well as ambassadors of various countries. These lectures have broadened our students’ understanding of global diplomacy and the complex dynamics of international relations.
